Martha Wakefield
We are all color sensitive. The language of color speaks to us intimately. Like a scent can elicit memories, the colors of a new environment can evoke a distinctive place or time. In my paintings I strive to transform those places, however fleeting, which become a memory for me.
Through the use of color and line I want to capture the essence of a moment or the mood of the weather's effect on the landscape. I hope to hint at a recognizable place yet create an image of where we desire to dwell.
